Two partners, one firm, and a disagreement nobody would name
Regional accountancy practice, 4 partners · Strategic Intervention
Where it started
On the surface, the partnership was fine. Underneath, two of the four partners fundamentally disagreed about whether the firm should stay traditional or move hard into advisory work, and the disagreement had been quietly shaping every partner meeting for two years without ever being properly discussed.
What we did
This needed focused, experienced input on one specific problem, not a general programme. We ran the conversation the partners had been avoiding, structured enough that it didn't turn into the argument they'd been dodging, with one clear question on the table: what does this firm actually want to become.
Where they landed
The partnership didn't split, and didn't need to. They agreed a phased move into advisory work that both camps could live with, written down and signed off, so it stopped being a live argument and started being a plan.
